stairs startled

The flight of stairs flees

upward, downward

curves left, darts right…

a maze runner

direction challenged

in a stairwell deep

within swells of walls;

bursts through the doorway

like a flock of seagulls

startled by seashore surf.

yarn chaos

Chaos, a ball of yarn

attacked by a kitten

stringing threads

behind the couch,

flinging color

over the kitchen chair,

plopping a shrinking

ball to rest in the recliner

before flipping it

across the room

to bang

into someone’s head.
