Cameron Tricker

Cameron Tricker is a writer that hails from the same place as Thomas Paine – that little town being Thetford, Norfolk. His poetry has been published by DUMBO Press, Gnashing Teeth, Ink Sweat & Tears, The Gentian, boats against the current, and more. His prose writing was shortlisted for the Writers and Artists Working Class Writers’ Prize in 2024. He is anchored to this life by his friends and family; cats, blink-182, Buddhism, and the common threads that bind humanity.

praise for New Modalities

When I published two of Cameron Tricker’s poems over a year ago, the potential for this young artist’s voice was clear. With New Modalities, he delivers on that potential with dominating self-possession. There is no mode of language that Tricker overlooks, no corner of his dialect unexplored. Needless to say, this collection of poems is an impressive achievement in form – it celebrates humanity with a swagger and focus rarely seen.

Loss of love, of youth, of disillusionment. Cameron Tricker has managed to pour so much heartbreak into his newest collection, New Modalities. Deft turns of phrase with the just-right words pull the reader into the moments which we all have navigated. Despite these moments of reflection “the tree goes on, relentless.” Cameron takes us into his world and invites us to take notice. “if only for/shoe-box room/to breathe” we will emerge from this collection knowing we are not alone. In the end: “Some days you win.”
